Day 8 VLCD
Today is day 8 of VLCD and I am down 10.2 pounds. In case you didn't get this from my previous blogs - I love this stuff :)
Question for anyone out there reading this - Has anyone done the short rounds or are the long rounds better? I would really like to do the short rounds if they actually work as well as the long round. I can't find anything in CC's book about the shorter rounds, but the 10 days off sounds more manageable to me than the six weeks that are suggested with the longer rounds. I am really worried about gaining weight if I am off of the injections for six full weeks. Any advice?? Help!!

Sheila,
I am doing the short rounds...just started my second. They are better for me simply because I need the mental break, and a week is plenty of time for me to get that well needed break....Also I tend to lose the most in the first 2-3 weeks anyway, so the shorter rounds just made more sense for me.
My first two rounds were the 6 week rounds, though, and it was just SOOOOOO hard for me to get through them....the end just seemed too far away. 3 weeks is easier to manage than 6.
Everyone is different though....good luck to you which ever way you choose to go!

Hi Sheila,
Taking less than 6 weeks off (3 of P3, 3 of P4) between rounds, whether 23-day rounds or 43-day rounds (short or long) is not on the original protocol and some are finding that it isn't working well for them to take only a week of P3 between rounds of hCG. Others have taken less than 6 weeks, say 2 weeks, and it worked fine for them. It is a risk to vary from the original protocol, but some have done so successfully. You just don't know if you are going to be one of the ones that it works well for. That's why it isn't in my book to do 3 weeks of hCG and 1 week of P3, then start over. Check Joy's blog for more details on the "experimental" shorter rounds and shorter breaks. We don't know if this method is really going to have the same long-term results of maintaining afterward with a reset hypothalamus, either. To be safe, if trying the experiment, I would do my last round traditional Simeons.

thanks for the information cindy, very helpful!
I started last September, have completed 4 rounds, and only one of them was a long round. The rest have been short ones, minimum of 28 days, maximum of 34 days.
I've lost 69 pounds.
For me, the short rounds serve a better purpose. I also know a lot of others who have done it with short rounds all the way to goal and they are maintaining well, months after they have reached it.
I always do at least 21 effective doses, then may take a planned interruption, lasting up to 12 days, then jump back on for another week or two.
This is YOUR protocol Do what works best for you.
If a person wants to do 4 rounds of the protocol do you have to wait longer than 6 weeks between rounds 2-3, 3-4?
If you are doing short rounds, then you can do six weeks between them over and over (correction to my previous understanding of Simeons, who assumed that multiple rounds would all be done for 40 doses). If long rounds, I would do what Simeons states, for best results, which is: Between Rounds
Phase 3 (No sugar or starch) +
Phase 4
1 and 2 3 weeks + 3 weeks
2 and 3 3 weeks + 5 weeks
3 and 4 3 weeks + 9 weeks
4 and 5 3 weeks + 17 weeks
5 and 6 3 weeks + 23 weeks
Any subsequent rounds 3 weeks + 23 weeks
